Sex and Porn Addiction

What is Sex Addiction?

Sex Addiction is generally characterised as compulsive thoughts or acts pertaining to sex, masturbation or porn. Like all addictions these behaviours or thoughts progress and escalate over time, as it takes more and more to achieve the “fix” or “high” obtained from the powerful feel good chemicals released by the body during sex. With this progression and escalation often comes an increase in the negative impact on the sufferer’s personal and sometimes even professional life.

Do you have a problem?

Do you feel your sexual behavior is often out of control?

Do you often feel preoccupied with thoughts about sex?

Has your sexual behaviour ever created problems for you, your partner, or family?

Is your sex life making it difficult for you to focus on other things in your life e.g. work?

Do you feel you have to hide aspects of your sexual behavior?

Have you tried to stop the behaviours and failed?

What can Sex/Porn Addiction Therapy offer?

Therapy can help you to understand what sexually compulsive behaviours are really about for you, understand the origins of your behaviours, and explore how they may link with managing difficult emotions and stresses in life.

Therapy can explore how the addiction is maintained and reinforced through a six-phase behavioural cycle which sheds light on unresolved issues and unmet needs. Approaches can be identified to address these and thus break the chains of addiction.

Once the behaviours are no longer compulsive, therapy can help you to repair and develop healthy sexual relationships, and establish relapse prevention strategies for life.

Therapy will change your relationship with sex to a positive, compulsion free one in line with your true values.

Who is Sex/Porn Addiction for?

Therapy can be accessed by anyone who thinks they have a problem with sexually compulsive bahaviours, by the partner of someone with a sex/porn addiction, or by the couple together to repair their relationship once the compulsions are under control.
